Open Positions

  • The role of the Lead Baker is to guide all aspects of baking in BOH by taking ownership, maintaining organized and efficient processes, and ensuring all bakery team members operate under consistent procedures at all times. The Lead Baker creates a positive and healthy team environment while also holding all products to a high standard. They are responsible for day-to-day operations, training baking staff, managing and creating recipes, and ensuring health and safety standards are met. This role will also work closely with Floral/Events team members to provide baked goods for a variety of workshops, events, and catered needs. A successful Lead Baker will hold and develop skills in leadership, delegation, time management, customer service, and organization. Additionally, they will stay up to date on industry standards and update TFK’s baked goods menu as needed.

    Responsibilities/Requirements

    • Set a positive tone and strong work ethic for the kitchen

    • Train and educate BOH on The Flower Kitchen’s process and policies

    • Communicate any changes in recipes, processes, or product to the BOH team

    • Daily assess what needs accomplished, then prioritize and delegate to BOH team

    • Keep the team motivated and working, ensuring quality, consistency, and thoroughness

    • Comply with health and safety regulations at all times; train any new hires on rules and regulations

    • Manage quantities to be baked daily, ensuring full stock while also keeping waste to a minimum

    • Discard any product that does not meet our high quality standards, or that is past date of freshness

    • Set menu for pastry offerings, keeping core menu to a high standard while adding new/seasonal items as needed

    • Notify FOH of any new menu items or changes to existing inventory

    • Manage daily/weekly inventory ordering for BOH needs

    • Plan for, price, and fulfill large catering orders

    • Execute occasional pre-order specialties (i.e. holiday rolls, Easter cookies, etc.)

    • Keep kitchen areas clean and presentable, modifying closing/opening checklists as needed to maintain a clean environment

    • Notice if equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs to owners

    • Track items for popularity and phase out any under-performing products

    • Weekend availability required

  • The role of Barista is responsible for running a POS system, greeting customers with joy, making all espresso drinks, and tea with excellence.

    Responsibilities/Requirements 

    • Excellent customer service 

    • Previous barista experience required 

    • Detail oriented weighing syrups, dosing espresso to correct weight, pulling shots, and steaming milk

    • Latte art skills preferred  

    • Inventory and restocking supplies

    • Able to lift 30 pounds

    • Washing dishes 

    • Maintaining clean bar 

    • Running food 

    • Team oriented  

    • Weekend availability required

  • The role of Floral Design and Event Assistant is to work with the lead florists in creating, designing, and organizing all shop and custom floral designs, assist with event floral design, and manage on site private events.  

    Responsibilities/Requirements  

    • Process and care for flowers 

    • Keep stems bar and shelves clean and stocked with flowers

    • Work with lead florist to fulfill all custom orders 

    • Deliver flower orders as needed

    • Take flower orders over the phone and at the counter

    • Help achieve clients’ vision through clear communication and creativity

    • Greeting customers and answering any and all floral related questions 

    • Learn how to accurately price stems bar flowers and custom arrangements  

    • Learn and replicate our signature design style

    • Set tables and chairs in the layout for each event

    • Make drip coffee for the event

    • Welcome clients into the building and ensure they have all they need 

    • Set out prepared food the client purchased from TFK for the event

    • Ensure the space is cleaned and reset at the end of the event 

    • Two years of floral design experience

    • Retail experience with a POS system

    • Works well with a team

    • Detail oriented

    • Weekend availability required
